Angelina Jolie, originally Angelina Jolie Voight (born on the 4th of June, 1975 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actor, director, and producer who is well-known for her sex appeal as and her charitable work. The role she played in Girl, Interrupted (1999) was a part she won for the Academy Award. Jolie, the daughter of actor Jon Voight, spent most of her growing up in New York. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 11. She attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for two years. She then enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. After that, she studied drama at New York University. She also appeared in theatre productions and modelled for music videos. It was in Hackers (1995) when Jolie got to know Jonny Lee Miller, a British actor (married 1996; divorcing 1999). It was not well-received, as were a number of other movies. Jolie was the segregationist wife of Alabama's governor, garnering plenty of attention in 1997. Later, she was awarded an Golden Globe Award. The following year she played the role of a model struggling with addiction to drugs in the HBO movie Gia the actress, which won her several awards and awards, including the Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She co-starred with John Cusack in Pushing Tin in 1999. The following year, she tied the knot with Thornton (divorced in 2003). Jolie played the carjacker's girlfriend (Nicolas Cage) in Gone in Sixty Seconds 2000. Then she switched to the British accent as well as mastered street fights and kickboxing in order to play the role in Lara Croft Tomb Raider 2001 and Lara Croft Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life 2003. She portrayed Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone's Alexander (2004) and appeared alongside Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow in Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow (a sci-fi thriller set in 1930s New York City). Both films were box office disappointments however, Jolie was a huge success with Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) the film in which she portrayed an assassin who was disguised as a normal housewife; while working on the film, she came across Brad Pitt, who became her partner.
